Great News: Puppet Place Launches a New Challenge for January!
Happy New Year, everyone! I’m thrilled to share that Puppet Place has kicked off 2025 with an exciting new project: the New Year Puppet Film Challenge. Even better, they’ve teamed up with the British Puppet Guild to bring this creative opportunity to life!
Here’s how it works:
Create an original 60-second puppet film during January 2025.
Post it to Instagram by 11:59 PM on January 31st (GMT).
Tag and collaborate with @puppetplace and @britishpuppetguild in your post.
The film must feature the number 25—how you incorporate it is entirely up to you!
Who Are Puppet Place?
For those unfamiliar, Puppet Place is the vibrant hub for puppetry in the South West, based in Bristol’s historic Harbourside. For over 40 years, they’ve supported puppetry practitioners, nurtured emerging talent, and pushed the boundaries of the artform. Whether you’re into theatre, film, animation, or even robotics, Puppet Place is all about breathing life into the inanimate.
Save the Date for the 48-Hour Puppet Film Challenge!
While we don’t have official confirmation yet, Puppet Place usually hosts its popular 48-Hour Puppet Film Challenge in September, sponsored by the British Puppet Guild. It’s an exhilarating event that challenges participants of all experience levels to create a puppetry film in just 48 hours using three unique prompts.
This year, the tentative dates to keep in mind is September 2025. Stay tuned for updates by following @puppetplace and @britishpuppetguild on social media. You won’t want to miss out on this fantastic opportunity to stretch your creativity and celebrate the art of puppetry!
So, start brainstorming for January’s challenge, save the date for September, and let’s make 2025 a year full of puppetry magic!
